2016 RBA Charity Golf Day

Another successful RBA Charity Golf Day

The eighth RBA Wealth Management Annual Charity Golf Day took place on Friday 20th May at Breadsall Priory Country Club.

RBA Wealth Management, a team of financial planning and wealth management specialists, based in Uttoxeter, Staffordshire, has recorded another successful Charity Golf Day raising in excess of £8,000 for CHICKS Charity.

CHICKS is a national children's charity providing free respite breaks to disadvantaged children from all over the UK.

CHICKS believe every child has the right to make positive childhood memories. A CHICKS break inspires new confidence and gives children the chance to have fun, enjoy new experiences and relax. More than anything, it gives them the chance to just be children.

CHICKS began in 1992, and has since provided over 13,000 children with a much needed break.

In 2016, we're hoping to give up to 1,200 children a respite break, but we need to raise £1.8 million to make this a reality.

The children

The children we help come from a variety of backgrounds. They might be living in poverty, be young carers, be victims of bullying or abuse, or have been bereaved. The one thing they all have in common is that they could really benefit from a week away from their circumstances.

"It's been so fun, I never want to leave" - Liam*, 8

The breaks

Each week from February-December, sixteen children come to stay at one of our three retreats (Moorland in Devon, Coastal in Cornwall and Daleside in Derbyshire). Each break is divided into school key stage ages: KS2, aged 8-11, KS3, aged 11-13 and KS4, aged 14-15. The children are accompanied by three fully-trained members of the CHICKS team, and up to six adult volunteers (http://chicks.org.uk/get-involved/volunteer/) .

The breaks are fun and exciting whilst also providing opportunity for rest and relaxation. The children have the chance to take part in new activities and enjoy new experiences, and we always make the most of the beautiful countryside that surrounds our retreats. We at RBA are feel extremely proud to be helping such a fantastic charity.

The beautiful views and challenging 18-hole course at Breadsall Priory country club provided an excellent experience for RBA’s team and 40 guests who participated in the charity event this year. We are delighted to have raised £8,000 for CHICKS charity, we have been fortunate enough to spend a lot of time with this charity and have seen first-hand how funds raised are being spent on fantastic week long breaks. Many of the children will have never been on holiday, so to spend a week in the beautiful setting of the Daleside retreat is fantastic, allowing them to be children, no worries just pure fun, laughter, games and adventures, making happy memories.

Like many charities they don’t receive any government funding and rely on fundraising events & volunteers. RBA Wealth Management & Nigel Davies are hosting a Family Fun day at CHICKS, Daleside Retreat on Saturday 16th July from 11am- 4pm to help raise awareness for the charity. The day will consist of many fun activities for all ages including live music, hog roast, bouncy castle and much more. Please come along for a fantastic day out.”

If you would like to take part in next year’s golf event or you would like to make a donation then please contact Caroline Parker on 01889 568444 or email.
